    Car Insurance Claims

Claiming on your car insurance is no fun. Anyone who has had to this will know what a pain it can be. It can seem the insurance company want to know absolutely everything about the incident, so much so you can be tempted to tell them about the gorgeous shoes you had on at the time.

They sometimes even make you draw pictures on your car insurance claim forms. Yes, that’s right. You have had the horrible experience of getting so engrossed in singing along to the radio that the big, bright red brake lights on the van in front failed to register. You have driven your cute little car into the back of the big scary lorry, and now you have to draw pictures showing how it happened. Drawing a car isn’t easy at the best of times. Drawing a car nestling in the back of a HGV means a degree in art is called for.

The car insurance forms also make you admit the most embarrassing things. Okay, you admit you drove up the pavement and crashed into the neighbours wall – but do you really have to tell them about the huge spider that fell into your lap when you pulled down the sun visor, causing you to swerve in fright? Do you really want to admit that you hadn’t shut the bonnet properly and it had flown up, covering the windscreen and making you think you had gone temporarily blind? Well, it is probably best to be completely honest. If you are going to lose your no claims bonus anyway, you might as well do it in style.

Of course, not all car insurance claims mean giving this much detail. In fact, sometimes it is possible to put in a claim over the phone and get the situation dealt with there and then. Which is pretty handy for those of you who have actually done some of the things mentioned above and have no way of moving your car without the help of a very big tow truck.

Something you should bear in mind is that if you have a car accident that was not your fault and there are witnesses around who saw what happened, get their contact details. That way you can ensure your side of the story is backed up, and you can share the joy of drawing pictures on car insurance claim forms with someone else.
